Conversion of Glucose to 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Using Consortium Catalyst in a Biphasic System and Mechanistic Insights

نویسندگان

چکیده

We found an effective catalytic consortium capable of converting glucose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in high yields (50%). The reaction consists a Lewis acid (NbCl5) and Brønsted (p-sulfonic calix[4]arene (CX4SO3H)), microwave-assisted reactor biphasic system. best result for the conversion HMF (yield 50%) was obtained with CX4SO3H/NbCl5 (5 wt%/7.5 wt%), using water/NaCl MIBK (1:3), at 150 °C, 17.5 min. catalyst recycling tested, allowing its reuse up seven times, while maintaining yield constant. Additionally, it proposed cycle by HMF, highlighting following two key points: isomerization into fructose, presence (NbCl5), fructose CX4SO3H/NbCl5. A mechanism validated.

Optimization of Production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural from Glucose in a Water: Acetone Biphasic System

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is considered to be an important building block for biorefineries and has a high potential for the production of chemicals and fuels. Production of HMF from glucose was studied using phosphoric acid as catalyst, in a water:acetone system with volume ratio of 1:2 and NaCl. An experimental design was applied to examine the influence of temperature, time and concentra...

The Highly Selective and Near-Quantitative Conversion of Glucose to 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Using Ionic Liquids

A number of ionic liquids have been shown to be excellent solvents for lignocellulosic biomass processing, and some of these are particularly effective in the production of the versatile chemical building block 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). In this study, the production of HMF from the simple sugar glucose in ionic liquid media is discussed. Several aspects of the selective catalytic formation...

Dehydration of Glucose to 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural Using Nb‐doped Tungstite

Dehydration of glucose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) remains a significant problem in the context of the valorization of lignocellulosic biomass. Hydrolysis of WCl6 and NbCl5 leads to precipitation of Nb-containing tungstite (WO3 ⋅H2 O) at low Nb content and mixtures of tungstite and niobic acid at higher Nb content. Tungstite is a promising catalyst for the dehydration of glucose to HMF. Co...
